The Houthis, Yemeni rebels, backed by Iran, said they fired a second salvo of missiles at Israel hours after launching their first such attack since the war began.

Israel confirmed it had intercepted a missile from Yemen.

The attacks mark an escalation in the war, but a limited one. The Houthis have not

renewed assaults on ships passing through the Red Sea. About 3,500 American Marines and sailors

arrived in the Middle East on board the USS Tripoli, an amphibious warship. They might be part of an

attempt by Donald Trump to pry open the strait of Hormuz, which Iran is blocking.

America's Central Command also announced that, one month into the war, its armed forces

had struck 11,000 Iranian targets and damaged 150 vessels.
