A mixed close close on Wall Street, I'm Henry Epp with the Marketplace Minute.

Markets were mixed on Thursday. The Dow Jones rose three quarters percent.

After briefly hitting a new record, the S&P 500 dropped a quarter percent, the NASDAQ dropped nearly 8 tenths percent.

May's construction of new homes dropped to its slowest pace in about four years.

Housing starts dropped five and a half percent, compared to a year ago, they're down 19%.

That's the lowest level since June of 2020, when much of the economy was still shut down due to the pandemic.

The owner of Tik-Toc argues in court filings that a law which could ban the video

platform is unconstitutional and would set a quote dangerous precedent for free speech.

Oral arguments in Tic-Toc's lawsuit against the federal government are scheduled for

September.

And thousands of car dealerships are grappling with the fallout from a cyber attack that hit a

crucial software provider.

CDK Global provides services that assist with sales at about 15,000 dealerships.

Many of its systems were offline for a second straight day today.
