It is Thursday, June 13th, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day.

Number one, the sprawling House Republican probes hit everyone besides

Joe Biden. Number two, Senate conservatives will expand their blockade of Biden nominees. And number

three, the White House will announce today its new nominee to lead the FDIC. Let's get into it.

The number one story, the top of Punch Bowl News this morning.

An interesting item, not only interesting because I wrote it, but with Bres, of course,

and Max Cohen.

But yesterday's action on the House floor got us thinking. So yesterday, the House voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.

But think about this.

They've impeached Alejandro Mayorkas.

They've held Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.

They threatened to hold Anthony Blinken in contempt of Congress.

They've referred Hunter and James Biden to the Justice Department for criminal

prosecution, and their investigations even played a role into DOJ's prosecution of Hunter Biden.

The only person effectively in this orbit that the House Republicans' oversight has not really

touched is Joe Biden, much to the chagrin of former President Donald Trump, who will be on Capitol Hill today,

but that hasn't really stopped Republicans from trying.

The Republican committee chairs have issued more than two dozen subpoenas related to the Biden impeachment inquiry,
