Number one, we've got some news.

A rescission package vote could come as early as May 5th.

We are in week two of recess here in Washington,

but we've got a lot of news in this morning's Punchball News a.m.

First, some breaking news here out of the eight with, from the AP,

Vatican City at 531 a.m.

Pope Francis, the first Latin American pontiff, who ministered with a charming, humble style, dies at 88.

The headline reads, J.D. Vance, the vice president, met with the Pope Sunday in Vatican City, and Francis addressed Congress in 2015.

One day before then speaker, John Boehner, announced he was resigning the post.

Yeah, this is a especially interesting that the vice president got in kind of at the last

moment to see J.D. Vance on his trip to Italy. Now the vice president has landed in India

for a continuation of his trip, his first big foreign trip and met with the Pope before he

left Italy. But you mentioned at the top, we're going to shift back to Congress. This is only,

this is a recess week, and this is only an AM week for Punch Bowl News. We only have AM additions coming out this week, which is a welcome break for our staff in this very busy time.

A rescissions package will be heading up to Capitol Hill in the next couple of week.

A rescissions package that includes billions of dollars in spending cuts suggested by the Trump administration.

That will come to the floor, at least tentatively, the week of May 5th.

May 5th is not next week, but the week after.
