Joining us right now to talk March Madness, previewing the tourney with the ringers, Tate Frazier on the Emerald Queen Casino Sportsbook Hotline. Tate, how's it going? It's going well. Best time of the year. Appreciate you guys having me on the show. Always a good time to talk about the madness. And we got some good matchups, some and a lot of good games ahead we are very happy to i we have so much to talk about i |
| 0:58.9 | don't even know where to start um i'm going to go with uh kind of a look ahead almost at where |
| 1:04.1 | these guys are going have we ever had attorney with this much future NBA talent |
| 1:07.7 | i mean that's a great point i mean we're talking're talking 1981. That class with Jordan and Elijah Juan and, you know, Chris Mullin, you can go down the list when you talk about sort of the talent that we have here. A lot of lottery talent. Obviously, we lost some guys along the way. J.T. Toppin, a first team All-American for Texas Tech, not playing Caleb Wilson for North Carolina, you know, out as well. |
| 1:44.6 | But Darren Peterson, AJ DeBenz, you kind of go down the list. I mean, Darius A. Cuff has been a superstar for Arkansas, Braden Burrys for Arizona. I mean, the list goes on. And hopefully we get McHale Brown for Louisville as well. and a lot of lottery talent and, you know, |
| 1:46.4 | a lot of good players that can make some noise and help their draft position for sure. |
| 1:48.7 | I'm on the A Cuff bandwagon for sure. |
| 1:51.6 | Washington plays explosive. |
| 1:53.1 | He's dropping like 30 in the tournament so far in the SEC tournament. |
| 1:56.7 | What is it about his game that makes him such a great prospect? |
| 1:59.9 | And what are Arkansas's chances of really making a run at this thing? Yeah, John Caliperi, he knows how to find guards, you know. And anytime he's putting it into that top tier of guards that he's had and you can go through the list. I mean, SGA, obviously, an MVP for him, you know, Jamal Murray, John Wall, Derek Rose, the list goes on. So John Calipari has a type, and Darius Acuff is a special guy. I mean, we're talking about like Stefan Marbury, maybe not with the same type of bounce, but the same type of impact on a game. And scoring wise, I mean, Darius Acuff, every single game, even if he's not having his best game, he finds a way to get you 20 points or more. And you saw it in the SEC tournament set a record there. I think he ended up with 91 points over the three gamespan. So averaging around 30 points, he's been incredible. And this Arkansas team, a draw out there in Portland, you know, that will be a little bit tough going out to the West Coast. I always am a little concerned when teams go out to the West Coast from the East Coast. They seem to struggle sometimes with that. So Hawaii is not going to be an easy matchup, but they should handle business there. And then they got a really tough Wisconsin team who plays up to the level of who they're playing. And they've been able to knock off some top teams as we saw against Michigan earlier in the year. So a tough draw for Arkansas, but definitely a chance for John Cali Perry to make a run with his Arkansas team. What's your chalkiest region? And where do you have kind of the big surprise coming from? Yeah, chalkiest. I mean, I do feel like, look, at the top of the four one seeds are all really good in their own ways. I think Florida got a really tough draw by dealing with Houston and Houston, potentially |
| 3:27.5 | in the elite aid, so you don't like that. |
| 3:29.2 | Michigan got a really good draw. |
| 3:30.8 | If you look at their bracket and sort of the front courts they have to deal with, |
| 3:33.9 | they don't have a team that really stands out to me that's going to give them some issues. |
| 3:37.7 | Blake Buchanan for Iowa State, shout out to Cillane, but he's going to have a lot to deal with when he goes up against a Daimara and Moresz Johnson. Virginia has the front court to deal with them, but they're going to have some tough sledding to get there with a physical team like Tennessee along the way. So I think Michigan got a really good draw. And then Arizona, to me, you know, they've had some struggles in the past with Wisconsin. And if they end up meeting Wisconsin in the suite 16, I think that could be a tough matchup for them. I know everybody's pointing to Duke and talking about all the coaches and all the programs. I mean, it's a blue blood bracket over there in the east. But I do think Duke's going to find a way to get it done. And maybe they see Kansas, maybe they see St. John's, maybe they see Michigan State or Yukon along the way. But their defense is just so good. And if they get Gungba back for rim protection, I think that covers them. And Caden Boozer was the real question mark. And he looked great in the ACC tournament. This tournament is like no other. This is the one tournament where the underdog can really make some noise and make a run. |
| 4:34.2 | I always go back to back of the day when George Mason made a run at this thing. |
| 4:37.2 | That was fun to watch. |
