| 0:20.8 | John, how's it going? Yeah, I'm doing great. Stacy, how are you? Fantastic. I have kind of a weird question to start, which I know I shouldn't say. I know. I know. Every single time I say that, including during the huddle. No, no, no, no. It's because this one isn't about the draft, which is in the off season, which is where we are going to primarily, |
| 0:41.9 | which is where we're going to primarily focus with you. It's about the culture that you observed in the building. We just listened to Michael Dixon talking about how the walk-and-talks were |
| 0:47.4 | really useful for him. He thought it was just a really cool thing that Mike McDonald |
| 0:51.0 | installed with the team and that it led to some closeness. |
| 0:55.2 | So I thought it would be fitting to start with you by asking about some of the, I guess, |
| 1:01.5 | camaraderie that you observed. |
| 1:03.2 | And when it comes to being a close-knit team, I know winning helps, but what things did |
| 1:07.3 | you see being that close to the team in terms of how tight this team was? |
| 1:28.2 | Yeah. I mean, obviously we heard players talk about all year and especially late in the, you know, in the playoff run that that was a big part of their success. And, you know, it's interesting because when Mike McDonald came in, they talked about like the culture here is already great what Pete and John built. And really, I mean, going back all the way to when Paul Allen bought the team and Mike home were like this, that team has had really good culture for a long time. And they knew they didn't need to overhaul it, but it's still a new head coach. He's his own guy. And, you know, Leonard Williams, I remember talking about, like, it was an adjustment for guys. Like Mike's different, you know, his style is a little different. So guys, you know, they didn't like, you know, bristle against their anything, but it was just an adjustment to a new style. |
| 1:46.5 | And so I think we really saw it come together. different, you know, his style is a little different. So guys, you know, they didn't like, you know, bristle against their anything, |
| 1:44.7 | but it was just an adjustment to a new style. |
| 1:46.5 | And so I think we really thought come together this year, you know, those, those walk and talks like they said, just the different things they did. I mean, a lot was made of the shadow boxing, which was silly, but it did. I mean, you talk to players, like, as silly as that is, like, it got, you know, defensive linemen hanging out of running backs and specialists hanging out with offensive linemen, you know, like, you really cause guys to interact across position groups in a way you don't necessarily always see. And to me, that was like, when I knew, I mean, I think we all had a good chance on the Super Bowl just based on the way they were playing. But what I felt like, man, this team's really in great shape was that Thursday of media availability when they'd been doing a lot of media and they could have been tired and kind of burn out. Like that group, they were having so much fun. They were just goofing around, so loose. And it was like, yeah, this team's fine. I was talking to Stacey Boy and I said, I think that Pete Carroll, because on the college level, you do a lot of these camaraderie things because we're around each other all the time like you spend so much time together so I felt like Pete Carroll understood that and brought that from his time at SC and I told Stacy maybe Mike McDonald learned that from his time at Michigan and said you know what I got to bring some of that here. So you got two different, two different, like, eras of athlete, right? Two different generation of athlete. So both of it, both of those approach seem to work, but how different are the athletes from when Pete was here when Mike Vodal was here? I mean, I don't know that there's that much different. I guess probably the biggest difference. and you hear, you know, if you talk like scouts and jams about this, it's like, and not all them's a difference are like guys come in. They've made a lot of these top, they've made some real money in it. You know, they're coming in a little more prepared for real life and they're not, you know, their life experience has been different because they've been paid the money since they're 18. So I do think that's personal. |
| 3:25.7 | But, you know, we're only talking a decade here. |
| 3:27.7 | I don't think it's some vast generation gap here. |
| 3:31.3 | All right. |
| 3:31.9 | Now I want to look ahead to the draft. |
| 3:35.0 | This is a team looking at four picks. |
| 3:36.9 | I know that John Schneider has had smaller draft classes before with obviously three and was that 2021. |
