owners meetings in Midtown saying that his team is quote

championship caliber

but the owner added the current payroll is quote not sustainable

then he goes on to say I'm going to be honest payrolls at the levels we're at right now are simply not sustainable

for us financially.

It wouldn't be sustainable for the vast majority of ownership groups given the luxury

tax we have to pay.

Now he insisted that doesn't mean the Yankees won't be able

to afford Soto. That's because according to the owner unlike this past

off season the Yankees are set to clear some contracts after the year.
