It is 4 o'clock on Tuesday, November 18th. What does it all mean? It's a deadline in major league

baseball. There's a lot of little deadlines throughout an offseason. The deadline right now,

4 o'clock, November 18th, is the qualifying offer deadline. So all the players that were made

the qualifying offer, soon to be free agents, they could either accept the qualifying offer, which means they go back to

their team on a one year, $22 million deal, and we'll not get the qualifying offer next year because

you only can get it once, or you decline it, you become a free agent, and then the team that loses

you gets a draft pick, and the team that signs you has to give up a draft pick. So for a case like Edwin Diaz, he's obviously rejecting the qualifying offer. It's a waste of time to talk about. But for Trent Grishman, it was fascinating. I remember when the Yankees had to make the decision on Trent a week and a half ago or two and a half weeks ago, you were off that day, me and Sean were on the air. And I was like, dude, I'd offer it to him. Because the thought being, if he accepts it, great, I have him on a one year, make good contract. If he says, no, great. I get a draft pet. We have the answer on Trent Grisham's decision. So let's go to the Trent Grisham decision desk with Sean Morass. Sean, what is Trent's decision? Trent Grisham has accepted the Yankees offer to remain a Yankee for the 2026 season. You don't sound very enthused about this, Sean. I'm not enthused. Why? Because when you play with fire, you get burned. And Trent Grisham. What's that mean? He's not fire? Trent Grisham had... I mean, he was fire at times during season.

He was.

It was kind of awesome.

Trent Grisham was an extremely useful, important piece of the 2025 Yankees.

Period. Stop. I'll thank him for that. Look, he owes nobody an apology for that. Trent Grisham knew what we all knew, which was, that is likely an aberrition.

And if he's backing it up, he's going to go try to prove it in year two.

My issue here is with the Yankees. You were reluctant to move a guy like Spencer Jones. They're even Jason Dominguez. And the Yankees, their history tells you, when they are paying a guy premium money even for one year, they refuse to sit a guy like that. They will run him out there and give him every last opportunity. And maybe Trent Christian goes and replicates that year.

But by replicating that year, you're again blocking what you have in youth yet another season.

And that's what angers me. And even if he doesn't replicate the year, they're going to give him

every last opportunity because they're paying him to do that. And all for a draft pick, all because you want to get a draft pick back, I'm angry, I'm flabbergasted. And more importantly, the more my wheels are turning here, I blame you, Evan Roberts. I blame you. And I'm going to say something hurtful to you right now that I'm going to regret in 10

minutes, but you're a low-life piece of garbage for what you did. What did you do, Evan? Because the general manager of the Yankees didn't have a single damn thought about giving Trent Grish from the qualifying offer until he joined us on Evan and Teague when it was me and Evan that day. and Evan ordered the words,

Hey, cash, one more before you're going to give you,

you're going to offer that qualifying offer? And Cashman's reaction was immediately, huh, that's a good question. You think he'd never thought of that? I think that Evan put the wheels in motion to have this whole thing happen. It's your fault. It's the Yankees' fault. And now, guess what? Spencer Jones, I hope you have a nice condo and Scranton, okay? Because you ain't seeing this place anytime soon. The Yankees made the right decision. I'm going to tell you right now, and I said that too, they absolutely made the right decision. Because you're still trying to win right now. You're still trying to put yourself in position to get to the World Series. and as good as Spencer Jones could potentially be, you have no idea what Spencer Jones is going to be. At all. So, again, I'm fine with that, but I would rather add it a depth fourth outfielder piece and tested that than be, because you just know, you know they're going to play them everything. I'm going to make you feel better. I'm going to make you feel better because the reason this was the right decision to make was you had two columns. Column A was Trent Gisham leaves. You get a draft pick, fantastic. Or column B is what happened. He says yes. Right. So we'll throw column A away. I would have been good with that. It didn't happen.

Let's move to column B.

Trent Grisham is back on a one-year $22 million deal. It's a good thing, Sean. And I'm going to tell you why. Go ahead. Tell me why. Number one, they can trade him. Well, that's a different story. Oh, I didn't even think of that.
