The Athletic NFL insider James Palmer joining us now in the Emerald Queen Casino Sportsbook Hotline.

And James, your timing could not be more perfect because we already feared that Ken Walker could be hitting free agency.

Now we're hearing reports that Rashid Shahid is going to test free agency.

My first question is something that Curtis and I were both wondering, why do the Seahawks free agents hate Seattle? What's going on here? Why do they hate us, James? Do they hate you? They hate winning Super Bowl? That's what it is. Exactly. Are they mad at us? They're hating the success? I don't know. I wasn't there. What, the parade up to far. It was so fun.

Was it good? Okay. Yeah. I've covered a lot of them. I'm assuming, you know, that's when everybody, and I love when John Snyder actually was up there going, you know, we're already talking with Kenneth what? Like, he's trying to pitch himself. Like, that actually does happen at every parade. It's actually kind of hilarious. Like, that's the one that fans need to, like make sure this is just my sombering moment of of Super Bowl parade. That's when, because I've been to like 10 of them. That's when you hear everybody's coming back and we're getting the band back. Yeah, we're going to run this back. The head coaches say it to run it back with everybody. Like that's always the, so it ends up having, but it's not the reality. There's a little liquid involved, I think, and what's going on during the parade. But listen, I would say this. I think John is arguably the best general manager in football. I put him right up there. I think George Payton's outstanding in Denver. I think Kyle Roseman in Philadelphia is outstanding. There's obviously a couple of these guys that are out there. I think John's right up there. And I think the way he goes about it is what sets him apart. And I'm getting to the point here that you're asking with saying

he's so forward thinking. He doesn't like to look back. He doesn't like to hang on to things too long. He's done it with coaches. He's done it with coordinators. He's done it with star players. He's done it with a quarterback that was a perennial MVP. He always is looking to make sure that he stays a step ahead because he does believe teams in this league that try to hang on

to the group, and that ties back to the Super Bowl parades, too long, oftentimes find

themselves in financial issues and oftentimes find themselves getting older at key positions

quicker than they should.

And so I'm not shocked by the approach with either one of the players.

We can get into both. But I mean, I never expected Kenneth Walker to be tagged. If you know anything

about John's history, I think he's wholly used it twice since 2010. And I thought Shahid was

served a really good purpose for what they needed. And I think he helped them win a Super Bowl.

But for the way the free agent landscape was going, and I know John's reading into this,

he'll probably end up getting more than what I believe John Schneider thinks he's worth.

James, do you think that kind of mindset maybe stems from how the previous Super Bowl teams here in Seattle

that were under John Schneider's watch
