Hi, Dave Brock and Salk here, Seattle sports on 710, Seattle sports.com and of course the Seattle sports app as well. Brock, we may disagree a little bit on what happened with the Mariners.

I think I can sum it up. I think you'll get to the sea ox. Let me just sum up our little 730 conversation because I didn't do it well.

And I think this is the battle that you fight and you have fought really hard all season long. Just because it's deeper like on the surface, there is a majority of the folks that look at Texas and go there better knew and they're eight and one and they can back that up right.

They could just say we're eight and one we hit the ball better than you are line up steeper than yours are nine hitters in 320 like what do you expect.

And I think what you have fought for and where I think that this is true is that age old adage it in the end elite pitching should trump hitting elite pitching should be able to handle any lineup and in playoff baseball.

That's what happens and Luis Castillo and George Kirby and Logan Gilbert when they go Salk and if it was those three back to back to back, guess what I don't think you're giving up six runs and nine runs and all of that.

You would sure hope not. But unfortunately over the course of a season, it's not a three man staff and with Marco out and with Robbie Ray out in the disappointment, Chris Flex and everything else, you've now got rookies thrust into a position that yeah, you like them.

But if you if I would have said to you Salk, yeah, I don't want them in that snow. No, no, you don't. But Brock, I don't expect again, I don't want to fight about this.

No, but I I will say I don't expect them to be as good as the top three guys in the rotation. I said that last week, but I don't expect them to give up six runs and not give you a chance to win.

Yeah, I don't need you to throw a quality start. You don't have to go seven innings two runs and give credit.

That's what you need to go five innings three runs and you've got to give credit to Texas. They get some they took a lot of walks.

They did a lot of damage to those young guys. They did what you're supposed to do when you're going to lead offense and you're facing a rookie pitcher in that moment and on that stage, you're supposed to hit a mistake out of the yard.

You're supposed to draw walks if they're nitpicking. You're supposed to do damage and they did and they knocked your two guys out of that game. They did that. And because of it, not only did they win the series, unfortunately, they swept the series. Okay, so that's enough of that.

So can we talk some Devon with her spoon because, you know, you talk young guys and what they're supposed to be able to do in their, you know, beginning rookie year.

After week one, he didn't play and we're all looking at it going, oh my God, the Seahawks absolutely maybe blew this and jammed the whole preseason.

He was there for one week of training camp. Unfortunately, that hamstring that was bothersome over the course of the off season got retweeted.

And he played one week of hearing out of going, oh my God, maybe Jaylen Carter was the answer and this was not et cetera, et cetera.

And then week two, he plays and he has some ups and he has some downs and then he plays again this week. And I thought of times he was the best player on the field for them defensively.
