If you're just waking up, I got to be careful or people are going to start thinking I have a hard I can't start to choke up on the radio show.

0:34.9

I was trying to share the story of Sergeant Johnson a Detroit member of the fire department who died saving three girls and I was trying to read a quote that he gave.

0:50.9

I'm going to try to get through it now. I know we can't save everybody, but we try it's never easy and it feels right to lose.

0:58.9

It never easy and it never feels right to lose a human life when you've been called to rescue them, but it comes with the job.

1:06.9

And I do think that we have a tendency. I don't think it's a tendency. I think it's a reality of focusing very often on people going viral for the wrong things.

1:16.9

And I can't think of a better testament to firefighters out there and emergency personnel police, whoever you want to reference.

1:26.9

That deserves to receive a lot of attention than this Detroit firefighter who died a hero saving three young girls from drowning in the river. There are a lot of people who do this every single day.

1:38.9

And much of what occurs on a day to day basis is a story about human failure as about human as opposed to human success.

1:50.9

And and and heroism and oftentimes what we focus on is frailty and failure and cowardice to be frank in this country.

2:00.9

And I think what we do when we focus on stories such as those is we often overlook the true heroes amid our midst.

2:10.9

So what I have been trying to do on the show when I'm going to try to do more of is when we find stories like these when I happen to see them or you guys happen to see them and you want to share them with us to be able to discuss on the program.

2:26.9

I think that it's important that we give people who otherwise may be anonymous and their families the attention that I believe they deserve.

2:36.9

So Sergeant Johnson with the Detroit Fire Department who gave his life to save three young girls in the Detroit River. That should be a story that is everywhere.

2:46.9

Frankly, that should be a story that you start off your morning seeing on all the newscast that should be a story that you hear everywhere.

2:56.9

Instead we very often focus on the exact opposite of that we focus on stories of cowardice failure human mistreatment in the in the extreme as opposed to what is far more common, which I think is is people trying to be better than they are.

3:14.9

People who are rising to challenge in a time of great global tumult and finding a way to be heroes.

3:24.9

And so I wanted to share Sergeant Johnson's story there with you guys.

3:28.9

And then Daddy, I got to be careful when I start to share these stories because if I have too many moments like these people are going to think that I'm a softie and they're not going to hate me as much and that's going to hurt my ratings.

3:39.9

Yeah, when you know listeners use your own slogan against you and tell you to debauch it's not good, but it was worth it for that story. I'm glad you put up that link yesterday, because I was reading through that story and I hope that a lot of money is raised to help his family.

3:53.9

Yeah, there's no doubt. So there's a go fund me campaign again. I know everybody is has got their own challenges and everything else and look, I know there are lots of people that are doing heroic things that I'm not going to see. Right.

4:06.9

I'm not intentionally overlooking some other story. It's just hard to be on top of everything. And so I'm going to find some of these as I happen to see them during the course of my day, during the course of my life.
