But first, let's finish our kamikaze story.

Now, America's making its way into the Philippines.

I already explained that the Philippines are critically important to Japan.

They have to have these resources.

They took the Philippines on purpose. They needed to keep it. But again, they don't have

an Navy anymore. They don't have their top tier fighter pilots anymore. They don't have them.

And Japan decides it's time to begin recruitment of kamikazis, of men who will join the special attack squadrons.

That's what they called them.

Special attack force, special attack squadrons.

I saw both.

They didn't call themselves kamikazis all the time, but they did refer to themselves as that.
