Final hour on this Monday, Dan in the Danettes, Dan Patrick show.

We thought we were going to get a new nickname for Washington's football team, and I don't

think it's going to happen today.

At least word is starting to circulate that there's some trademark issues that when the

Redskins first wrote this topic and some of the names came out, potential nicknames,

and people probably scooped them up and are squatting on those names.

At least that's what we're being told right now.

But the Redskins were going to make that announcement, first reported by Sports Business

Daily, the official announcement, the new name, but their trademark issues pending.

Last week Adam Sheftar reported the franchise would not use any Native American imagery.

Washington's logo of an American Indian chief had been designed by a Native American in

1971.

Another source told ESPN, the plan as of now is to retain the franchises use of burgundy

and gold colors.

Ron Rivera, the coach, that said the team wanted to include the military in its new name

as well.

That's where I think red tails makes the most sense, because I don't want to change much.

I can still keep that script R in the logo.

I keep the colors, but I get a whole new revenue stream with merchandise here.
