While we were warned over and over again that what is left of Hurricane Ida is coming our way,

and now it's here. I know there are expectations based on the forecast,

but these things can change dramatically from hour to hour and from new guidance to new guidance.

So on the phone with me now is meteorologist Richard Lleweling from the Weather Channel.

Thank you so much, Richard,

for joining us. Let's go over the next couple of hours. What can we expect? Well, we got the

latest advisory from the Weather Prediction Center on exactly where Ida is located, and it's located

just over in northern West Virginia right now near Elkins.

And what's happening is it's starting to merge with a front that's dropping down across the northeast.

And those two are going to come together, and they're going to send a tremendous amount of moisture

across eastern Pennsylvania through northern New Jersey, the Lower Hudson Valley, and western Connecticut.

And it's just the perfect storm in regards to timing in regards to bringing all this precipitation together. So a lot of heavy rains on the way. We've already been seeing the flooding reports

down in Washington, B.C, and on down toward Philadelphia. I've already got some flash flood

warnings up down there. And it's just a matter of time before the heavy rain start to spill into the Poconos,

the Catskills, northern New Jersey,

and into the lower Hudson Valley here over the next couple of hours.

And even here in New York City, we're going to be looking at some heavy rains as well.

So what we're experiencing right now, that's not Ida.

That's the other storm?
