There are enormous decisions that on the surface feel like, oh, that's not really a big deal. So last night, when the Yankees lost, after Jake Burr tried to clean up the Camp Schlitler mess, they went to a young pitcher by the name of Yovani Cruz, who just got called up. Right. He healed. He did what? He dealt. He dealt.

Did you see Yovani Cruz last night, Sean? Yes. Swinging missed off.

This is what we've been waiting for the last couple weeks in the minor. Just throw strikes, man. That's it. Throw strikes. He, everything you guys just said, right? Yeah. Looked amazing. Everything we've been waiting for. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. there's a damn good chance

he gets sent down to the minor leagues.

Well, first and foremost, you're talking about Garik Cole coming back here? I think the Yankees with Garicol coming back are going to make probably a decision on either Blackburn or Yarborough. Well, that's what they should do. Yeah. I agree with you. We are not arguing in terms of what they should do. But the way baseball works, unfortunately, with Brian Cashman and others, is they say, well, we can keep the pitcher by sending him down. Right. We can't do that with Paul Blackburn. We have to DFA his ass, and he's actually been pretty good, and someone will pick him up. And so there's a decent chance that the guy you've been waiting for, the guy with the swing and miss stuff, the guy who, let's get nuts, could end up being the closer of the New York Yankees. Let's get nuts. No, you're not joking. Why not? And this is why, you got to know that Brian Cashman and the Yankees are going to do the thing, make a decision that gives them the most options. And that would be sending crews down? And that would be optioning cruise down. Now, the problem is, if he goes down, he can't come back for, what is it, 15 days? 10 days until unless someone gets hurt.

And so you lose him for a week and a half.

And so you might want to use him again or give him another opportunity to show that he can be eventually, as Evan was alluding to, the closer for this team at some point.

But this is the way baseball works and it's infuriating and it's frustrating.

But the New York Yankees are acting slightly different this season.

They are showing a tad bit more of urgency this season.

There's so many little examples of it.

Volpe being the most prominent.

Sure. Volpe going to the minor leagues is a great one. Garrett Cole, the urgency of starting tomorrow night against Tampa, a game that's significant as they try to come back, win this division, potentially win a tiebreaker. This would be another one of those examples of Brian Cashman telling everyone we're going to act different this year. They were pretty good.

Like, you can't send Yovani Cruz down. Tell Paul Blackburn or Ryan Yarbrough, we appreciate your time. They could send Jake Bird down. You may not want to. But you could. They could even send, and I know he's been good, they could send Hedrick down for 10 days to kind of give him a little rest. I mean, he pitches every day. You can't take the binky away from Aaron Boone.

But the point is maybe that's to protect a little bit.

But the point is, you're an idiot. Protect a little bit. And I'll say this. For all the bashing, I do of Brian Cashman. And all you want to talk about the Yankees acting different. The one thing Brian Cashman loves above anything else is proving he's the smartest guy in the room when it comes to reliever decisions. So that's what makes me think he's going to stay

But believe it or not, when I said that there's something the Yankees need to do that they won't do, this is not what I was referring to. It's actually something else.
