Not... Now here are your hosts, Brock Eward and Mike Salk. Hello. Hello. Hi. Hello. Happy Friday. Not happy for just going off the Mariners record right now. One game in. They didn't get a win, Charlie. It's okay. One game into the season, there's a chance for redemption. It comes today and 160 more games after that as well. Long season ahead. but yes, in the immediacy of an opening day loss, we are here, Mike Lefco and Charlie Furbush, here to break it all down with you on Brock and Salkwell, Shannon Dreher, joining us at 830 where there was a lot to get into. Charlie, it was a game where, hey, you start off with the highest of highs.

Brendan Donovan, your prized acquisition in the offseason, comes to the plate,

home run in his first at bat, joyous occasion there, and then we started to realize,

well, hold on a second, this offense is just going to be home runs tonight.

Something that at times they did last year, the Mariners last year,

highest percentage of runs in baseball came via the home run of any other team. And I look at it two ways. I'm curious to get your thoughts. You hit four home runs. You get a great performance from someone like Dominic Canzone, but all four of your runs came via the home run. Is that a concern? Is that good? How do you look at it after one game?

I'm not too concerned. You know, early on in the year, it's really, I'm not concerned at all, really, at any point early in the season, because as 162 games go, you realize that the first month is just don't, you know, dig yourself a hole so deep you can't get out of.

And then you can, you know, kind of navigate through, you know, everything.

So I'm not, you know, when I look at the loss last night, I think the thing that I look at specifically, I mean, it's great that they, you know, ran into some long balls.

I love that. But it's the 14 strikeouts that I think really is the, you look at that and you go, well, that's not going to work.

You know, you can't be striking out 14 times at night every night and think that you're going to have enough production in between those strikeouts.

So, yeah, that was the one thing that I was like,

ah, man, you're still swinging and missing.

And, you know, I think there were a couple moments where a couple guys looked

overmatched or were trying to do too much at the plate.

So, but it's game one, you know, I think everyone wants to come out and, you know,

shine on day one and be the guy in some way.

But everyone will learn from last night, and it's nice to get their feet wet, get into the game today,

and probably have a nice new approach.
