We pick a hero.

We honor his sacrifice. We honor his service.

Today we're going to honor a David Richard Kingsley. He was born in Portland, Oregon, 1918. Remember this.

Being in an airplane in World War II of any kind was a very, very dangerous affair.

We had personnel die flying back home on hospital planes getting shot at.

There's just, there's no armor. It's, it was unbelievably dangerous. The 8th

Air Force, those were the ones doing the bombing runs over Germany, had more men die than the

Marines did fighting the Japanese in the Pacific. Did you know that? That's how insanely dangerous it was.

These guys died at such an alarming rate that they would get sent back home after they reached a

certain number of missions. After a certain number of missions, they just said, man, you're on.

Borrowed time. Go home because you ain't making it very much longer.
