And if you're just tuning in in the last 20 minutes, the Philadelphia Phillies off to an identical 9-19 start as the New York Mets have fired Rob Thompson and have replaced him on an interim basis with Yankee legend Don Mattingly, whose son Preston Mattingly is the general manager of the Phillies working under Dave Dumbrowski.

So the Mattingleys are now fully in control.

Now, didn't this, now that, that comment about it being orchestrated or part of some plan, doesn't that make more sense now?

Well, I think it always- If you were Rob Thompson, didn't you have to know that this was inevitable at some point if you got off to a bad start?

I think any time your coaching staff is fired from you and then a guy who has managerial experience is placed right below you as the bench coach, you know the deal, you know you're on the hot seat. And he doesn't make that decision, right? Excuse me? Rob Thompson. He has... No, I mean, Rob Thompson makes what decision? Does he have any say in who his bench coach is going to be? Sometimes managers get that say, but I don't think in this case he fleeted.

I mean, I'm sure publicly he talked about how great of a hire it was, but I think he also understood he was on the hot seat. I mean, look at what went on with the Mets. They took Carlos Mendoza's coaching staff away, and the front office picked the coaching staff. Right. So I think both Rob Thompson and Carlos Mendoza were on the hot seat, the Phillies had a more obvious proven replacement in Mattingly because he's managed before. The Mets right now, it's a smorgas board of possibilities. It could be Kai Correa, who's the bench coach. It could be Andy Green, who's in the front office. It could be someone from outside the organization, somebody in the minor leagues.

But I tell you this, as a Met fan who expected and wanted the Mets to make a big decision in the last 24 hours around their manager, it is a little troublesome to see your division rival do what

you thought needed to be done. And again, for anyone who goes with this, it's not the

manager's fault. It's not Rob Thompson's fault. What do you forget how to manage? The Phillies are in

the playoffs every year. They were in the World Series in 2022. Remember when he was the answer for

a fire Joe Gerardi? So this is just a reminder to that same old act of, ah, it's not his fault. No kidding.

But you still do things to try to change up what's going on. The Phillies have attempted to do that. We'll see if it works.

And the New York Mets are sitting by saying, yeah, we're good. We're going to stick with what we have.

For right now. Well, do you think it's changing? I mean, clear, if this team doesn't drastically get better, it's inevitable

that Mendoza is going to be fired. When? I don't know. But I think honestly, it's because of

the plan, like what's the, and then what plan? But Tiki. They don't, they didn't have one. I

know, but you're saying things that are bothering me. Number one, when you get rid of the entire coaching staff, you're clearly putting the manager on the hot seat. The Phillies, it was odd. We all remember this, because I remember this, and I don't even pay attention to the Blue Jays. It was odd when Don Maddingly, who was assumed to be going back to the Blue Jays as the bench coach, suddenly left. I think spring training had already started. He suddenly left and becomes the bench coach for the Philadelphia Phillies. It was like, huh, okay. So now you fast forward to the end of April. It's like, oh, that was obvious. The writing was on the wall. Sure, sure. That was inevitable if the Phillies got off to a bad start. Who have the Yankees done that with?
