They'd pick a candidate, and then after the conventions were over, that's when the presidential

race began.

70 days, 75 days.

That was the normal presidential race.

That's how it always worked for a million years.

It was only in the last 10 or 12 or 15 years that this thing started about, begin the primaries early,

and it somehow stretched out to like a year of a campaign.

But this is the better way.
