Brian Cashman said and he said it with such conviction the other day in Scottsdale is that the

Yankees had the smallest analytics department in the American League East.

Now he said you guys aren't doing your homework. Well, Eric Bolin, who does an unbelievable job covering the Yankees for News Day,

went to what they call Four Ring Sports, which keeps track of such things.

And as of August 27th of this year,

what Brian said does not appear to be the case.

So it's under the heading of Major League Baseball R&D staffing, which is research and development, which falls under analytics.

The team with the most analytics employees, this is Tampa Bay

raised at 44.

This is in the majors, not the American League East.

The team with the second most, the Yankees with 43. Then it drops off to a tie with the Dodgers and the Phillies at 35.

The Mets and the Red Sox at 33.
