All right, the New York Knicks start a, what could be an arduous road trip for them tonight against the L.A. Lakers, Lakers 39 and 21. They are in second

place behind the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Western Conference. So we'll have that game right

here on 880 ESPN, and they'll also have it in L.A. 710 ESPN. And the play-by-play voice for the Los Angeles Lakers is John Ireland also hosts Mason and Ireland on that station as well he's nice enough to join us right now here on the Michael K Show John how you doing Michael I'm great how are you I'm doing wonderfully and not as well as the Lakers did you think that they would adapt this quickly to Luca?

And really they were playing well before they got Luca,

Anybody who tells you they thought it would happen this quick is probably lying.

They have, and Michael, the big thing they've done is since January 15th.

So we were in the garden.

We were in New York the night we traded for Luca.

We beat the Knicks at the garden and then about half an hour after that game ended,

it broke.

And then the Lakers have been on a roll since.

But to your point, it really started a couple of weeks earlier in that.

Since January 15th, so it's about seven weeks, they've had the number one defense in the whole league.

And Michael, if you break it down, they're number one defensively in everything.

Opponent field goal percentage.

Opponent three point percentage.

Opponent points in the paint.
