| 0:00.0 | Welcome back in Clay Travis Buck Sexton show. We appreciate all of you hanging out with us. We're rolling through the Friday edition of the program. And we are joined now by Staten Island, I believe's own Joe Borelli. We were talking about as we went to break, one of the first major races that is going to happen in the Trump era is the mayor of New York City. |
| 0:27.3 | The primaries, I believe, are in June before we get into the fall. |
| 0:31.9 | I know New Jersey has an election. |
| 0:34.0 | Virginia has an election. |
| 0:35.6 | There's much to be determined about what happens there and governor |
| 0:38.5 | races in particular. But Joe Borrelli with us now, Joe, right off the top, my theory here is |
| 0:46.9 | Andrew Cuomo doesn't have much interest in actually being mayor of New York City. He's already |
| 0:52.2 | done it basically as being governor of New York. He's |
| 0:56.1 | already had a job that is every bit as big, if not bigger. I think what he's doing here is arguing |
| 1:02.3 | this is rehab for him. If New York City voters elect him mayor, then he is going to run for |
| 1:09.2 | President of the United States in 2028. It feels inevitable |
| 1:13.9 | to me. Am I crazy? Do you see that as the real motivation here? I don't think you're crazy. |
| 1:20.6 | I do agree with you that he does not necessarily want to be mayor of the city of New York, |
| 1:26.3 | where you're 100% right is that this is a redemption play for him. |
| 1:31.0 | America does like a comeback, whether it's Cuomo or anybody else, so there's that |
| 1:34.8 | angle working in his favor slightly. |
| 1:37.6 | But this is about a redemption for Andrew Cuomo. |
| 1:40.4 | He left on obviously unfavorable terms with sexual harassment scandals from 13 women. |
| 1:46.6 | The state has now paid $30 million to defend him and his accomplices or coworkers that covered |
| 1:52.8 | it up. There's obviously the nursing home scandal. There's a host of other corruption scandals. |
| 1:58.1 | His employees served time in federal jail for the corruption under |
| 2:01.7 | his administration. This is essentially his play of being welcomed back into polite society |
