| 0:01.5 | From the Quantum Fiber Studio, this is Brock & Sock on Seattle Sports. Brock Ewerd is my hero. James Euter just punched me in the kidney. We're going to see you what I'm in the morning. That really worked that way, Sherm. This is a show that has my name on it. It's kind of tough. Now here are your hosts, Brock Ewerd and Mike Salk. Hello! Hello! You didn't want to join me a few minutes early today, huh? I thought you might be interested in the 17th most intriguing see-off. First day of school, so. Oh, Thursday. Oh, my God, it's mid-August. I mean, yeah. I was talking to buddies in Phoenix. Their kids have been back at school for like 10 days. Yeah. It's insane. What happened? I don't know. My kids don't go back to school until after Labor Day. Labor Day, right? Yeah. Which is when school should start. Which is absolutely the right thing in the Pacific Northwest. Right. Like if you were to rob the children of these summer days in August. That would just be cruel. That would be cruel and unusual. It's cruel enough to rob them of September. Like, I mean, the kids should be able to be out there in September. All right. Well, Mariners fans feel robbed, it seems like, a little bit today. And reading through the texts, a lot of frustrated Mariners fans about the way yesterday's game, not just ended but started. |
| 1:12.5 | Right? |
| 1:12.8 | It feels like there was a combination between the two. The end happened. I mean, what are you going to do? If Matt Brash and Gabe Spire give it up, it's going to happen sometimes. Yep. Right? I mean, like, you're just going to have to shake your hand. What are you going to do? occasionally really good relievers are going to give it up. |
| 1:09.3 | They've both been really good all year. |
| 1:11.4 | And what are you going to do? |
| 1:13.2 | Right. shake your hand. What are you going to do? Occasionally really good relievers are going to give it up. They've both been really good all year. And what are you going to do? Right? I mean, like, that happens. Well, what you like to do is play the balls in the air better. Well, I think that's the point. Frustration, too. They're not going to strike everybody out. So, you know, when a ball gets hit, You got to kind of play it off the wall. Well, ball gets hit and it's in your glove. You kind of got to catch it. |
| 1:28.7 | Right? everybody out. So, you know, when a ball gets hit, you got to kind of play it off the wall. Well, ball gets hit and it's in your glove. You kind of got to catch it. Right. I mean, you can't, yeah, if they, if they give up some hits and some hard hits, and they did, you know, those weren't all those weren't give-mees by any means. You know, like you also have to, and on top of it when you're not contributing offensively, |
| 2:02.6 | which unfortunately that right fielder is not, then you've got to be premier in the outfield, |
| 2:07.7 | which it was on one catch, but other plays certainly help. |
| 2:10.4 | Well, and I guess the next part of that is, yeah, that's why the beginning of the game was maybe as |
| 2:15.3 | frustrating for the end, because while you're not |
| 2:18.0 | that mad at Matt Brash, he's going to give it up now and again, the lineup that was thrown |
| 2:23.1 | in there, I think, is at least reading the text message is very frustrating for a lot of people. |
| 2:27.7 | So let's kind of revisit some of the conversation we had, it was either earlier this week |
| 2:33.8 | or maybe late last week, Garver, Moore and Master |
| 2:37.7 | Boni, who are currently all on the big league roster, and Ford, Robles and Rayleigh, |
| 2:42.2 | who are all currently, and I'll throw Williamson on there, on the Tacoma roster. |
| 2:48.1 | Robles is still going to be another couple weeks. |
| 2:50.1 | He's just not ready yet, so you're going to wait a couple of weeks. Rayleigh is going to be another couple weeks. Like he's just not ready yet. |
| 2:51.5 | So you're going to wait a couple of weeks. |
| 2:52.8 | Rayleigh is able to be activated this weekend, I think. |
