Now we bring in my good friend and colleague. We'll be working together along with Meredith Morakowitz on tonight's Yankee game on Prime, and that is David Cohn.

David is Michael Donna Peter. How you doing today?

I'm doing great guys. How's it going there?

We're doing okay. How do teams and players deal with this sticky stuff issue because it kind of seems subjective from umpire to umpire.

And yesterday, Domingo Hermann gets nabbed and he suspended for 10 games. Is there a way to do it? That's not just an umpire checking out if your hand is sticky?

Well, I think it just kind of cries out for a universal substance. You know, some something that can be agreed upon by everybody.

Hitters and pitchers, everybody in the industry that this is the official substance that we're going to use.

And everybody can use it and try to keep it uniform in that style or do something with the baseball and make the baseball like it is in Japan where it's already pre-tacked.

Now, sort of some sort of substance in the leather already so that there's not slick baseball.

So I think that's what this cries out for as far as what happened with Domingo Hermann or how you regulate that.

I don't know. I mean, it's hard to police each individual picture of your pitching coach.

It's really incumbent upon the individual to police themselves to be careful.

And if you get caught, you really put the team in a bad way because you can't replace Domingo Hermann now.

The Yankees are down a man. It's like in like a hockey. You know, you're in the penalty box for 10 days.

So do you think it's ignorance? Is it a need to have it when from what little information we have about the reasoning for Hermann?

Where do you think you land on it? Is it ignorance or is it strategic by him?

I think there's a learning curve here. Yeah, I think the blame certainly has to go to him, him alone individually.

But I think also he was caught on the way out to the mound in between any.

So whatever you're doing in your locker, if you have your own rosin bag or you're using whatever you're using in your locker before you go to the mound or on the bench somewhere, then that's what they're really looking for.

You can use the rosin bag on the mound and the mound only.
