The Mets are playing a double-headed today at City Field against the Brewers.

It's like a slow death.

They had a two-to-one lead that quickly evaporated when Carlos Mendoza took Clay Holmes out with a runner-on in the sixth inning.

His pitch count sitting at 90, and he went to the once-reliable Reid Garrett, who decided to blow the whole game up, including giving up a grand slam to Joey Ortiz.

So the Mets may well be on their way to another horrific loss as they trail the Brewers 6th, 2.

My first reaction watching it with you was that I probably would have pushed Clay Holmes a little bit more,

mainly because he had the extra day arrest, mainly because

this bullpen has been so unreliable, and they ask so much out of the bullpen. Yes. And Carlos

Mendoza decided not to do that. He decided to trust Reed Garrett with a one-run lead and a

runner-on and one out, and instead, Reed Garrett not only blew the lead, but he lit the game on fire.

And that's the state of the Mets right now.

Their season is literally being lit on fire in front of us.

Yeah, it is.

And the unfortunate thing, Evan, is that these games, they're not even in close position

to potentially salvage it in the eighth or ninth inning.

They're getting blown out.

Like, the last sweep that they had, they got destroyed.

What was it?

30 to 4?

30 to 4 was the worst sweep in the history of the New York match.

It was disgusting.
