since I have had the privilege of being one of the voices of this network and the first one to

come on the air, usually the following morning. I have no doubt that some of you are waking up

delighted today and some of you are waking up disappointed. That's the way this is supposed to work.

Here's my philosophy, as it's always been. If you are choosing to turn ESPN

on your television today, it is because you are begging for a reprieve from that one way or another.

Whether you are happy or you are sad, you want someone to take you away from that. You want

someone to talk about football, which feels very normal to you. You want someone to make you
