stacey ross it actually happened the seahawks made a pick at 32 overall now when a number of teams traded back ahead of them in the first round, I think we started wondering if, uh-oh, are they going to be out of some options here? This isn't making it easier. Last time, I was immediately thinking of the 2020 draft when they wanted to trade back and rather than take Jordan Brooks there, they wanted to be able to move back a little bit.

They had a deal that fell through with the Packers who traded one spot ahead of them to take Jordan Love. So when this was happening, I was going, oh man, are we going to see this again? Is it going to be a deal that maybe falls through? Was there another team they were talking to? Maybe a Miami that they tried to talk to. Things got fast on them last night. Yeah, it sure did. And so instead,

on the clock, no trade pick is in. And what we hear is Notre Dame running back to Darihan

Price. Who side note, this isn't about Jadarian, but the guy, Dylan, that made the announcement,

love the energy. I loved Dylan being like, excuse me, excuse me, Raj, step to the side. I'm going to go ahead and take this moment right here. Shout out Dylan who crushed it in his moment and then announcing the pick, including the correct pronunciation of Jedarian Price. Nailed it. But Janarihan Price is a Seattle Seahawk and Curtis, I immediately thought of you and bump, both of whom have been campaigning for the Seahawks to make this pick.

You had to leave Pittsburgh with Judari and Price wearing a Seattle Seahawks hat that had to happen in some way, shape, or form over the course of this weekend because you were not going to get many more bites at the apple

at the running back spot if you passed on him at 32 because I don't think there was a guarantee

that he would be there late 30s, early 40s if you moved down and started picking at the start

of the second round. And especially when you had what Buffalo move out of the first round

and San Francisco move out of the first round. Those are two spots where they probably had conversations

with the teams that were holding those second round picks. And those picks went away. And so we heard

John Schneider say in his post-draft presser yesterday saying, like, we had some things fall through for us. That's why we ended up picking at 32. I don't think the C-Rex were disappointed in the player they got. I think maybe just disappointed that they weren't able to turn that pick into other picks. Sure. But you got your biggest need checked. And it also happened to be the best player available at that biggest need. And look, they didn't overthink it in that spot.

They didn't get cute.

They just went and grabbed the guy that they absolutely had to have something that you could say about last year's first round pick in Gray's able and the pick, the first round pick prior to Gray's Zabel and Byron Murphy.

This is a trend we're now seeing in

Mike McDonald's tenure is like, let's not overthink it. Let's get the guy who is going to make

us the best team possible at our weakest spot. And I think that's exactly what Price does.

Well, and I want to keep looking at that idea of addressing that weakest spot versus getting the

best player
