What's going on?

Fascinating time to be in the Near East.

It is right now going through a momentous change.

Not only has there been the fighting between Israel and its enemies, terrorist groups, Hamas, Hezbollah, and their backers in Iran over the last year.

Well, much longer than that, but at a heightened state over the last year, you have the fall of the House of Assad in Syria. Clay and I'll talk to you a bit about

that. There is some jubilation in the streets. A lot of people firing celebratory gunfire is a thing

in the Middle East. You don't see it that many other places because those bullets do come down.

It is actually quite dangerous and stupid and people do die from this.

But anyway, a lot of celebratory gunfire, that's what they call it in the news, going on in Syria,

despite the fact that, yes, Assad is gone.

He was a bad man.

The person who is currently the de facto head of the state of Syria was formerly a member of Al Qaeda.

So that's probably not looking so great for the long term.
