and I'd especially like to hear from the NYPD,

because the New York Police have decided to back off

on misdemeanor arrest and nuisance crimes.

Good.

If I were a cop, I would do the exact same thing.

And look, I know it's being called the Pantaleo effect as if the NYPD officers are so upset that Officer Daniel Pantaleo was fired five years after Eric Garner died after an incident on a Staten Island Street Corner.

They're upset. I know they're upset, but they're doing their job as well as they've ever done

keeping people safe in the city. I have no fear that they would allow anyone to get hurt

by not doing their job. That's NYPD Chief Terence Monaghan who just doesn't get it. Sure, some may be upset, but most, most are

concerned that a minor offense, like selling Lucy's on a street corner, could turn into a

situation where you lose your job, your reputation, your pension. It's just not worth it.

If you're supposed to keep society sane at a street level and those in ivory towers don't

have your back, if public opinion is allowed to turn against you and dictate police policy,

then why risk everything for a turnstile jumper? When if the jumper resist arrest, you'll be wrong. And God forbid it escalates.
