memorial day mark is off enjoying a well-deserved long weekend and i hope that you are spending time

with family and friends enjoying the freedoms that so many fought and died for and that is why

our vets who lost their lives

defended this country, so we all wouldn't have to worry about being attacked.

As a friend of mine who is a Coast Guardsman would always say,

don't worry about a thing, we got this, but while it's a blessing to be able to enjoy the day,

relaxing, maybe having a hot dog, you tell

stories with people we care about, we do need to take some time to honor the great people

who died for us, whether in active duty or in training, or even people who were at the burn

pits and they came back and they suffered cancer and died after the fact. The fact is they

sacrificed their

lives they went in they didn't they didn't want to die but they went in knowing that that was a

very possible a thing that could happen that they could lose their lives joining the military

and this is still an all voluntary military and these people ended up dying. That's why we have this day

for them. They need to be revered. So whether you take a moment of silence, you say a prayer,

you make a toast, please just take a moment at the very least, a moment and dedicate the joy

that you experience on this day with your family and friends to the honorable people who died

to make it possible. And may they all rest in peace. And may we eventually arrive at a time

when we no longer have war and nobody dies in conflict. Former New York City TV news anchor Ken
