Welcome to today's edition of the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton show podcast.

Before I discuss the items in the news, particularly as they relate to Donald Trump being on the ballot

or at least the latest update, this is going to be an ongoing

battle through November 5th. First a quick story before anyone rings the show

to give a little structure to the calls and the show today.

About maybe two years ago, I was, so in Houston I do a show that is 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Central and then another one from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

so I have a gap between 11 a.m. when we finish the morning show and 5 p.m. when we start the evening show of six hours.

And that's usually when I go visit my show sponsors, play pickleball, work out, go to the house, hang out with my wife, smoke a cigar.

It's my six hours to get the things done that you would normally do if you get off work at

five in the evening, but I'm on the air.

So that particular day I have driven out about an hour outside of town

to meet with a show sponsor and then I'm driving back and during that hour drive I would normally listen to a

podcast or a book on tape and I particularly enjoy books on tape now if I have a long drive I look forward to it

Walter Isakson's Elon Musk for instance for instance and his book on Steve Jobs as well but that particular day I was

really troubled I'd finished the morning show and and I think talk show hosts

have to be careful and and Rush was the best at this at keeping a certain levity to things and not getting not preaching all day long that it's the end of the world because you'll send yourself

into a spiral of depression and that doesn't make you a more informed, engaged, aware citizen, sort of the anti-woke other into the extreme, it tends to cause people

to eject from the battle. You need your troops engage day in and day out.

Catch more bees with honey. You watch these World War II documentaries that Netflix has so many of now,

and you can go to YouTube and get plenty more.

And you see how the troops, the service members, are playing cards the night before the big battle.

You see the things they're doing to take their mind off of it because they understand it's a marathon. It's not a sprint.
