And a good afternoon, everybody. This is indeed the Michael K Show. We thank you for joining us on this Wednesday. It's January 15th. It's 2025.

This weekend we've got some football, but today we talk some baseball, particularly about Pete Alonzo, the free agent, first baseman, formerly of the Mets.

He's not of the Mets anymore.

Could be that he will be again, but at this point he's not.

And we're going to have Andy Martino of SY on with us at 1.30 to discuss this

further. But if you look at the situation the Mets are in, and if you look at the situation that

Pete is in, the Mets have all the leverage. So I keep hearing that Pete Alonzo and his agent,

Scott Boris, have proposed a

three-year contract to the Mets with opt-outs. And that's all well and good. So you could say,

well, that's great. It's not a seven-year deal, which is what he turned down and which he's

going to regret turning down. I guarantee you that. So when Billy Epper was the GM,

they offered him $158 million for seven years and he turned

it down. He will not get that contract again. Now, he might get an average annual value a little
