Summary

As we continue to chart Liverpool's historic 2000/01 treble-winning season, for the latest instalment we're joined by former Reds' goalkeeper Sander Westerveld. The Dutchman joins Guy Clarke to look back on his career at Anfield, having signed for a then-British-record transfer fee for a goalkeeper arriving from Vitesse Arnhem in the summer of 1999. Westerveld reflects on his role in the 2001 League Cup final, saving two penalties in the shoot-out against Birmingham City before talking in depth on the UEFA Cup run and FA Cup victory. He also opens up on how his time with the Reds came to an end before giving his thoughts on Alisson Becker and his understudy Adrian, having been thrust into the spotlight due to the recent injury to the Brazilian.
