We looked at the technological menace of big numbers.

First up, though, the world is in a climate crisis.

Addressing it will require coordinated action by governments around the world.

To avoid the worst effects of climate change, it's necessary to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius, and ideally 1.5 degrees Celsius relative to pre-industrial temperatures.

In 2015, 197 countries signed the Paris Climate Agreement and agreed to do just that.

Central to that plan is for the world to reach net zero emissions by the

middle of this century. It's a pledge that many world leaders have now signed up to.

Let's make it our collective commitment to get to net zero by 2050.

Today, the International Energy Agency, the World's Energy Watchdog, published a report.

It gave its verdict on what it would take to meet that 2050 target.
