Good evening from New York, I'm Chris Hayes. We are awaiting some big news tonight.

It has been 45 days since the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel,

which precipitated the near constant bombardment of Gaza by the Israeli military and a full-scale

ground invasion. Today, at this hour, there is a glimmer of hope that some of the over 200 hostages

can be returned and the fighting can come to an end at least

temporarily right now as of this moment the Israeli government is convening

late into the night over a potential deal brokered by the government of Qatar with assistance from the

United States to free some of the more than 200 hostages who have been in Hamas custody

since the attack on October 7th. Now we should stress things are still in flux.
