Now over the years you've probably heard me going on about Tinnitus and hearing on my last album Yikes I wrote a tune about Tinnitus called Bell's in

my head and it's something that I've learned to live with but it's something that we feel very

passionately about here at Hospital Records and I'm delighted to be joined by

Sean Alu who is representing the Earpiece Company who's co-manufactured our ear plugs with us.

And we're not going to talk about that. We're just going to talk about the science and

biology of hearing and hearing loss. Sean welcome. Thank you.

Thank you for having us. So, yeah I mean really I just want to ask you a few general questions and then you can ask me some questions too.

How common is hearing loss?

Well, it's something that's growing.

It's one of the fastest growing disabilities in the developing world.

In the UK, one out of six people will experience hearing loss.

And it's something that's of major concern. Partly the reason is because people

are starting at a much younger age to wear headphones going to live music. In the 60s

people didn't, you know, like rock and roll was invented so what we're seeing

is you know this is backed up by all the statistics is that people's ears are

aging a lot faster.

That's quite scary.

It is.

That really is.

I mean I know my years of age, well my left ears.
