Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this edition of the Hospital Podcast, which is a celebration

0:09.2

of hospitals best ever selling album. Hospital Mix One. So a little bit of a documentary,

0:17.4

a little bit of a kind of history session. Myself Tony Coleman, aka London Electricity here

0:24.2

with Mr Chris Goss, and we're going to go back in time and reminisce about Hospital Mix One.

0:34.4

Hey, don't Chris, you all right? I'm good. Yeah, I'm good. I'm delighted that I just found a

0:37.9

shrink wrapped copy. I know. Hospital Mix. Shrinked that. In the CD archive. Fantastic. The archive

0:45.0

was a good idea. Yeah, after all. Now, I should just warn you all that there are going to be long

0:53.0

intros because when people made drama based tunes back in the late 1990s and 2000s, 64 bar, 80 bar,

1:04.2

96 bar intros were a thing. Yeah, I was looking at the I was looking at the tracklisting this morning.

1:10.0

And I mean, the average length of tune on here is around seven minutes. Yeah. There's a couple

1:14.7

of eight minute tunes. There are. There are. That that was how it was in those days. But Hospital Mix

1:21.0

One was it wasn't supposed to be released. Was it Chris? It was it was an idea just because we'd

1:28.4

started off first of a hospitality at Herbal in October, 2000. And we thought we didn't know if

1:35.8

anyone was going to come. So we thought maybe if we gave away 50 CDRs of a mix that people might

1:43.2

be more inclined to actually buy tickets because people people actually did that kind of thing in

1:47.6

those days, didn't they? There was like, you know, we think about, you know, three before 11,

1:52.5

that kind of thing. And there was also like the first 100 people get a CD or something like that.

1:56.9

And so we thought we better do something. This is the first ever hospitality. And it was like,

2:02.1

you know, I just dug out of the archive. The original flyer. So it's Friday, the 19th of October

2:10.8

was the very first hospitality. So 90th of October in 2001. And it was only 9 to 2 herbal and

2:18.4

shortage. And yeah, so the first, I think you said like the first 50 people. Yeah, got a CDR

2:24.5

of this mix. Yeah, yeah. So I went down into the studio and just rattled off this mix thoughtlessly.
