Here with Steve Clifford, the new coach of the Charlotte Hornets, again, back for a second run in Charlotte.

Cliff, number one, thanks for jumping in.

Do you still wake up some days, Cliff, and go, I'm back in Charlotte again?

Well, for sure, I'll tell you, I'm still the level of excitement. Things happen so quickly.

And I'm obviously grateful for the opportunity, excited about the possibilities of our group and where we're at with the

roster and everything. So even at my age, I'm on a little bit of a high here.

Going back to the same team, and there's been others who might do it years later with different

regimes, it's more possible. But it wasn't that long ago in between between, obviously you were in Orlando and went to the playoffs twice there.

In between, I think it speaks to something about when you do leave a place of not burning bridges,

of keeping relationships, and that the opportunity came around again for you, your relationship with Michael

Jordan, the owner, Mitch Cubcheck, who got hired and essentially let you go, but you

had a relationship with Mitch from your days with the Lakers.

There's probably some lessons to be learned in how this could happen again, that you

left things in place to kind of come around to bend again

with the organization.

Yeah, and I mean this when I say it is five years last time, it was time.

My last year there didn't go well.

I think the first four years I look back, I was proud of. I think our teams

continued to get better and better during the season. The last year, you know, issues. I had

the headache issues and missed a bunch of games, but we never played well. You know, that was a team

that could have played a lot better. And in terms of the relationship part, Michael and I have a good relationship.
