| 0:00.0 | Hello, everyone. Welcome to Slash Film Weekly. It's Wednesday, March 11th, 2026. On today's episode of the show, we're going to be talking about the latest film and TV news. We'll talk about the new Pixar film Hoppers, present some interviews with that film's stars, producer, and director, and then have a discussion about Maggie Jollenhalls, The Bride. My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slashfilm.com, and let's kick things off with a quick news round up here. |
| 0:24.0 | Arguably the most interesting. My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slashfilm.com. And let's kick things off with a quick news round up here. |
| 0:23.9 | Arguably the most interesting story this week is something that's been percolating in Hollywood for, I think, decades at this point, which is that Arnold Schwarzenegger has been wanting to make a film called King Conan for a long time. |
| 0:38.0 | This is supposed to be a follow-up to his film Conan the Barbarian. |
| 0:42.2 | I believe there's also Conan the Destroyer that came out a couple of years after that |
| 0:46.3 | that was not as well-loved. |
| 0:49.3 | But Conan the Barbarian is a major sword and sandal epic from the early 80s that helped Schwarzenegger |
| 0:56.6 | become a major, major star. And this idea for King Conan has been floating around for a long |
| 1:02.7 | time, which is basically like, what if that character was still around, was still king, but is |
| 1:07.3 | 40 years older and is basically like complacent on the throne and then there's a new |
| 1:12.7 | conflict and all sorts of chaos ensues from there. I believe several filmmakers have been |
| 1:18.3 | attached over the years to try to bring this to life and now Christopher McCquery, the guy who's |
| 1:23.0 | behind the most recent Mission Impossible movies, is attached to write and direct this film for 20th |
| 1:29.3 | Century Studios and Schwarzenegger would be back to reprise that role. So fascinating development |
| 1:35.2 | there. Obviously, Macquarie, big name guy, we'll see if this ends up actually happening. |
| 1:40.4 | I'm really interested in the fact that this is a Macquarie movie that doesn't have Tom Cruise in it. |
| 1:45.6 | I'm kind of happy to see those guys kind of go their separate ways. |
| 1:48.8 | I feel like maybe they fill into like a little bit of a creative rut there, |
| 1:52.5 | especially the last Mission Impossible movie, |
| 1:55.2 | I think was kind of a disaster on a creative level. |
| 1:58.4 | But anyway, this is not the only movie that Schwarzenegger was talking about recently. |
| 2:04.0 | This news came out at something called the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio. |
