Well, we're coming to the end of our series on the book of Nehemiah that we entitled

Rise Up how God renews his people and as we arrive at this moment we remember

Nehemiah was a leader God elevated to bring his people into a critical moment of revival in their history.

And now as we arrive at the end, we're going to hit a very strange chapter.

The book's going to end in an odd way, but to give us context about it, we need to get a running start through the story of scripture.

Because actually the people in Nehemiah's day will do that. You see it later in the book in chapter 9 they go through

the history of their people and there's a reason for that. We need the

perspective from the past to help understand our problems and our pain.

Many of us, there's some perspective we need

on what we're going through.

And I want to tell you, that perspective is locked up in this past.

So like God did with the people in Nehemiah's day, we need to move

through this story and it's not just for Bible trivia. I promise you we're not just

going to see their story, you're going to see yours and you're going to see mine.

So if you remember in the scriptures in Genesis yours and you're going to see mine.

So if you remember in the scriptures in Genesis, God created humanity to walk with him and enjoy

him.

Intimate love with God that would then flow out to become love for each other.
