Well, nothing is more common to the human experience after the fall of Adam and Eve than suffering.

From natural disasters to epidemics, to terminal illnesses, aging, and death, it's clear that the world is not as it's supposed to be,

and neither are we.

Now, what's gone wrong with the world is not just something that's out there.

It's something that's inherent to the human condition, embedded in the human heart.

As Christian writer G.K. Chesterton famously said, in response to a newspaper question that was

posed to its readers about what's wrong with the world, quote, Dear Sir, in response to a newspaper question that was posed to its readers about what's

wrong with the world, quote, Dear Sir, in response to your question, what's wrong with the world,

I am. You're truly G.K. Chesterton. Now, for Christians suffering tests, and it reveals how we

live out our faith, and whether we truly believe that Christ can and does redeem all things for his glory.

And I know of no one who better lives out a life of redeem suffering than the one and only

Johnny Erick Santata.

Johnny's been a quadriplegic for 57 years and faced numerous other health challenges as well.

She knows suffering in the most intimate way.

But rather than give in to despair, she sees it as an

opportunity to know Christ better and to reflect what she knows about Christ as a light in order to

bless other people. Johnny was the speaker at our most recent Lighthouse Voices event on what it

means to see suffering as part of our cultural witness.
