All right, Sunday mornings, we're going through James verse by verse, and Lord willing today,

our text will be verses 1 through 6 of chapter 5, and boy, is it a doozy.

For those of you that read ahead to stay ahead, you already know what's ahead, so I'll ask

you to stand if you're able, you

can follow along as I read, if not where you're seated is fine. James, by the Holy Spirit,

writes verse 1, chapter 5. Now listen, you rich people. Weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.

Your wealth is rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.

Your gold and silver, verse three, are corroded.

Their corrosion will testify against you and eats your flesh like fire.

You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look, the wages you failed to pay the workers

who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.

Some of your translations render that the Lord of Sabah. We'll talk about that more

in a moment. You, verse 5, have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.

You have condemned and murdered the innocent one who is not opposing you.

Should we just close in prayer, or should we?

Let's pray.

Father, wow, Lord.

So I think as I say this and pray this, there's not one here in this service, in this

church that I'm so privileged to pastor that would disagree that we desperately need for

the Holy Spirit now to give us eyes of understanding as you teach

us and guide us and show us what it is that you have for us in this passage that's before us today.

Lord, it's here for a reason.
