In his first letter, Peter gave this admonition.

He said,

The end of all things is at hand.

Therefore, it be of sound judgment and sober spirit.

While today, on Insight for Living, we're looking at this passage in 1 Peter chapter

4, as we continue a study that Chuck's Wendall started last time.

It's here that Peter gives what Chuck is called,

marching orders for soldiers of the cross.

Someone framed it this way.

We are most like beasts when we kill.

We are most like men when we judge.

We are most like God when we forgive.

If you will live in the light of Christ's return every day of your life, it will do wonders

to your habit of judging.

It will silence your lip from gossip.

If you realize that you must give account for every idle word and action when you stand

before the Lord Jesus, it will do wonders to your conduct.

Take it first, Peter chapter 4, as we return to this wonderful study we're engaged in.

First Peter chapter 4, and I remember Peter has been dealing with the suffering saints.

Those who were being taken advantage of, those who could see no relief in sight.

And when Peter came to the middle of this fourth chapter, he decided to remind them that

this is all temporary.
