Summary

Anger is something we don’t often want to talk about. We can minimize our own struggles with anger, or we can neglect to see anger in our own hearts. However, we believe it is extremely important to discuss how anger impacts our personal relationships and our relationship with the Lord.  In this conversation, Shelby and Krystal address some key questions: is anger a sin? Can it be controlled? How can we identify and work through our anger? How does the gospel inform our perspective and our response to anger? These are ones we have both wrestled with over the years and we hope it is helpful to you as we go to God’s Word to find these answers. We pray this episode is a practical reminder of God’s saving work in our lives as we honor Him in our words and actions. 0:46.0

Hey everybody, really glad to be back with you today. Yeah. And today's topic, we're actually going to be talking about anger and we're going to share some stories. We're going to get into God's Word.

0:56.0

And really figure out what do we do with anger? Is it a sin? Is it something that could be controlled and practically how can we navigate it? But first we're going to talk about our favorite things.

1:06.0

So this is something that we open each episode with, something that we are loving and using lately. So Shelby, what is your favorite thing this week?

1:14.0

Yeah, my favorite thing this week is a series of books put out by the good book co called questions, Christians ask. And I think they're going to have about 20 books in this series. I think they have like 10 ish right now.

1:28.0

The first one I read is titled Who on Earth is the Holy Spirit, which is a clever title because it's less about who the Holy Spirit is and it's actually more about how he is active on the earth.

1:40.0

But I thought it was a really good book. They have several others like, can I really trust the Bible? How will the world end? How can I be sure talking about assurance of salvation is hell for real? Just complex questions that Christians ask.

1:54.0

Answer them in a really short and simple way. These books are super short and easy to get through loaded with scripture really well written. So that is my favorite thing for this week. And I just started my second one in this series, which is is God anti gay. And so I know that's another question that we can ask a lot as Christians.

2:14.0

So I love how they're tackling tough questions in a really approachable way. Yeah. And that's same all very right. That one is Sam all very yes. Yes. Also, Christopher Ash another one of my favorite theologians and writers does some in this series. They have a lot of really great people writing these books.

2:31.0

Those are really sure accessible books. That's what's so great about is you can really read them in the afternoon and they're so good anything the good but company puts out I feel like is is pretty solid. So that's a good wreck.

2:44.0

What about you, Crystal? What's your favorite thing? Yeah. So my favorite thing. It's actually something I have been using and living every day for the last three months. I think so it's about time that I talk about it because you're buying me of this when we talked about our future favorite things on a Christmas episode.

3:00.0

Is it Christmas? Yeah, I think gift episode yet. Yeah, I gift episode. We talked about like what are some future favorite things of ours. I just wanted headphones or really earbuds that did not fall out of my ears. And I could not find them. And I went through so many options.

3:13.0

And so someone on our team our digital media manager, Andrew actually had sent me message with some recommendations. Of course, because he's like into a V he would be like the best person to go to. I don't know why I didn't ask him before. But he sent me some recommendations.

3:27.0

And so what I have been using are AirPods, which I had waited because I didn't want to spend the money if they weren't worth it. And I'll tell you they've been worth it for me. I got AirPods pros and these foam tips that he recommended he specifically said you can get the AirPods but get these foam tips.

3:43.0

And so that combination together has been perfect. I've been using them for podcasts lately. I've been using them for meetings. I use them in the car from listening to music. It's been amazing. Like it has truly been my favorite thing. And so I would recommend if anyone else has ears like me.

3:58.0

You can't find your pets that don't fall out of your head. These are lots of been good. So we'll link specifically the foam tips. I'll link those in the show notes. Everyone knows how to find AirPods. But that's been my favorite thing.

4:10.0

I can like attest that this is your favorite thing because we actually just spent a week together on vacation with our families and everywhere that crystal went the earbuds went.

4:20.0

And I have it lost them. You didn't listen. You didn't, but I can attest truly. This is not like for show. This is her real favorite thing.

4:29.0

This is what everything. It's been so helpful. It's so helpful. Well, let's get into our topic today. We are going to talk about anger and I have to say that whenever we address anger.

4:40.0

People come from right and from left and just say thank you for talking about this. This is something I struggle with, but I don't often talk about out loud. So we know this is an important thing to talk about.
