Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

God came to the human race in Jesus to tell us what we could not know on our own.

The God made us to share in his own divine life and to live like him forever in heaven.

And we make the choice to believe him and act on that knowledge and that is the virtue of faith.

And once we have this knowledge, it's time to strive after the goal,

and that is hope. Hope is the virtue by which we strive for heaven

as something which is possible but not guaranteed. So hope involves three things. First, an active pursuit of union with God and heaven. Second,

a realization that the attainment of heaven is possible, after all, if it wasn't possible

to get to heaven, why would anyone even try to get there?

And third, a realization that failing to attain heaven is also possible.

Again, after all, if getting to heaven was guaranteed, why would you have to try to get there?

Our Father who art in heaven, hallow would be your name?

Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass

against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
