Summary

Welcome to HOOVERING, the podcast about eating. Host, Jessica Fostekew (Guilty Feminist, Motherland) has a frank conversation with an interesting person about gobbling; guzzling; nibbling; scoffing; devouring and wolfing all up… or if you will, hoovering.

This week’s episode was recorded live from Thirsk’s inaugural Podcast Social Club. My guests are the brilliantly funny and clever Kate Fox and Bethany Black both giving a beautifully candid and often hilarious insight into eating from the perspective of northern women who incidentally both have both autism and ADHD. We hoof mince pies, naturally and some other beautiful locally foraged cakes and puddings.

Tickets to see Hoovering LIVE in 2019

The next Hoovering live is in LEICESTER on 9th February as part of their excellent comedy festival! It’s an afternoon job and you can come and see my work in progress and then my Hench show afterwards on the same day. Anyway - click the big Leicester for hoovering tickets. Come come come!

Honourable Mentions

We recording at the brilliant PODCAST SOCIAL CLUB in Thirsk which I am certain will return next year, keep an eye out for it.

You should absolutely be following KATE FOX and why not listen to her excellent NAKED VET PODCAST too. And while you’re at it get following the very funny BETHANY BLACK on the socials too.

I would very much love to have you come and see my stand up show HENCH, which is at the SOHO THEATRE in London for three weeks of January. Perhaps get a ticket for someone for Christmas? Yes please. It’s all sold out for October now I’m afraid.

Outside of that I’ll be doing new material gigs and I’m always sticking new dates on MY WEBSITE so have a check. The Hoovering Live dates go on there too.

Our food on this episode came from various lovely Thirskian food outlets. Firstly the minces pies were from THOMAS THE BAKER but all the other beautiful cakes and puddings came from both the Harrogate Cake Company and the Undeniably Charlotte ranges that are all found Thirsk’s very own SUGAR THERAPY. Highly recommend, on all fronts.

The nearest place to get swanky food that was mentioned was the BLACK SWAN in Oldstead with its Michelin stars, no less.

Beth mentioned that she used to work in WHITTARDS

And as often happens, someone brings up

Welcome to Hoovering, the podcast about eating. I'm Jessica Bostigue. I love eating as much as anything else in the world. But also, it sometimes brings me conflict, shame and all sorts of other things that are rubbish. It's complicated and I think fascinating.
