Well, folks, it is Veterans Day, and I wanted to make sure that we paid tribute to our veterans and gave you a way to help out our veterans.

Joining us online is Diane Haight. She founded Forever Young Veterans in 2006. Her organization grants wishes for military veterans 65 years plus. That includes World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. She's honored more than 2,600 veterans by taking them on military trips of honor to places like Washington, D.C.,

So what was your motivation in starting forever young veterans in the first place?

Well, my father became an alcoholic after World War II, and I watched him suffer and our family suffered.

You know, back then, people didn't know anything about combat stress or PTSD.

But one thing about my dad is he loved America and he was very patriotic. So when I

decided to start for every young veterans, I wanted to give back to the World War II veterans because

my dad had never asked for anything from our country.

And so I thought we could grant a few small individual wishes,

and maybe get a medal they had never received or reunite them with a comrade.

That's kind of what I was thinking.

But they didn't stay little very long.

But one thing that I found about the World War II veterans that really shocked me was that they were suffering just like my dad. They were suffering silently

and their families were suffering like ours. And I didn't expect that. So at that moment, we really kind of changed our

mission from granting wishes. And we still grant wishes, but more toward honor and healing. Because

we found that as we honor our veterans, the walls come crumbling down

and they're open to healing.
