Christ Jesus, considered by many to be the greatest man to ever walk this planet, was tempted,

with a promise by the devil, a promise of absolute power over all people, kingdoms, and the earth.

All he had to do was surrender his God-appointed mission

and instead serve a mortal selfhood with all its so-called desires and pleasures.

Christian science teaches that the devil isn't a real entity,

but anything that is unlike God that would influence us

negatively. And Jesus could not be pulled away from the assignment God had entrusted him to do.

He knew the work was not to gain absolute power or accumulate material wealth,

but to set an example for all mankind and for all time.

He showed us how to care for each other, how to love our neighbor and our enemy,

how to lift up those who seem to have fallen, how to comfort the downtrodden.

The teachings of Christ Jesus are not vague.

They are clear and genius in their simplicity.

They are a road not for our lives, and if we humbly follow them,

we too can do the works he did.

He even said we'd do greater works. Imagine that. He wouldn't have said it if he didn't think

we could do it, and we can do it because we are the spiritual expression of God who is spirit.

We're not human beings pulled to and fro.
