When you think of a vending machine, what comes to mind?

Fishing for quarters to buy that occasional can of soda, perhaps? Well, one beverage brand is

temporarily reinventing the vending machine. This summer, Honest Tea, the organic tea brand owned

by Coca-Cola, is giving thirsty customers the option of donating to good causes at the

same vending machines they use to buy their cranberry lemon or pomegranate tea. In tourist locations in

New York, L.A., Philadelphia, and Bethesda, Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C., all of the

sales at Honest's so-called interactive vending machines will go to the nonprofit

organization's Fair Trade USA and the Organic Farming Research Foundation. And if you'd like to

increase your donation beyond the cost of the tea, you can do that too. In the competitive

world of ready to drink tea, customers like to understand the behind-the-scenes stories about how the tea is sourced.
