Summary

For most of us, homeschooling is something we feel called to, but it doesn't change the fact that we sometimes feel weary. That weariness can come from a lot of things, but often unnecessary expectations are one of them. When it comes to how we live our lives, are we seeking praise from people or from God? It's worthwhile to take some time to ask ourselves this question. How about homeschooling? Are we pouring our time and energy into what amounts to people-pleasing or have we really taken the time to seek the heart of God for us and for our kids? And if we have in the past, are we continuing to do that? So here’s the thing: when we remain faithful to God’s calling on our lives we are proclaiming Christ. We are saying that HE is God and we are not and even though this journey is unconventional and misunderstood by the majority of the people in our lives, we WILL continue to be faithful to HIS calling. Today's podcast is filled with encouragement to remain faithful to the call! wife to one, mom to eight, nana to six, and a 24-year veteran homeschooling mom. I'm also the author of the

Unhurried homeschooler, which is a simple, mercifully short book on homeschooling. And if you

haven't checked that out, I'd love for you to go and do that. It's over at Amazon, along with my 31-day

0:37.0

devotional that's also written specifically for

homeschooling moms called Unhurried Grace for a Mom's Heart. Also, I will be speaking in several

0:47.0

places in 2020. I will leave a link in the notes, the podcast notes, to those places. I would love to meet you. So check it out

0:57.1

and maybe we can get together. Lastly, some of you may know that I have a mentoring course

called the Unhurried Homestooler Mentoring Course. It's $37 for lifetime access to workshop

1:10.1

videos on what it looks like to take a more

1:13.1

unhurried approach in homeschooling along with a workshop on marriage.

1:20.6

And that's one that my husband joins me on, and also on taking care of mom, because self-care

is very, very important.

So I'll leave that link in the podcast notes as well.

Now, before we get started, I just want to say something to you.

1:35.8

You may not have heard this from anyone in a long time or maybe even ever.

1:42.3

But I am so proud of you. You probably wonder how I can even say that. You might be

1:49.3

thinking, you don't know me. You don't know all the ways that I've messed up. You know what the

1:54.7

truth is? I don't really care. The fact that you are here today seeking encouragement to keep doing what you've been called to do speaks volumes about your heart for God and for your family. Don't let the enemy get a foothold and take you in a downward spiral. God is on your side. If he is for you, who can be against you? He is a

redeemer and a restorer of all things. And I can speak to that because I'm a mom just like you

who's made her share of mistakes. But now this many years down the road I can see how faithful

God has been to fill in and cover so many areas with his loving, faithful grace.
